Hamburg, NY (WBEN) Although the Erie County Fairgrounds was hard hit by Thursday's storm, Dennis Lang with the Erie County Fair says the fair will be ready next month. The storm hit 20 days before the fair's opening day.

"It will take extra labor, some extra overtime, but we will be ready," says Lang. "We've lost some beautiful trees and properties but we will be ready to go on the 9th." Lang says the east grandstand lost its roof and racetrack announcer's stand. "It blew out the back wall, umbrellas have been blown away, bleachers have been destroyed, trees are gone," says Lang.

Lang says he had pulled into the McKinley gate, and "saw the black clouds start to spin, then everything raised up and took off. I would call it a rotation of clouds. It certainly had my attention."

3,500 people were on Fairgrounds property at the time. Patrons at Hamburg Gaming were evacuated to another building on the grounds. Car windows were blown out by the storm.
