Lake effect leaves its mark across Buffalo and WNY

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - It hasn't been as much about the amount of snow as it has been the timing and location of it.  A band of lake effect snow made its way across the metro Buffalo area during both the morning and afternoon commutes.

Winter weather advisories expired for the Buffalo metro area and northtowns and were due to expire early Friday for the rest of the region.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to
3 inches in the most persistent lake snows.

* WHERE...Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie
counties.

* WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Friday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The
hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If
traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and
visibilities.
