Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - As we close the books on the month of July, the folks at the National Weather Service in Buffalo are putting a big bow on it.

It took a while for Summer to get here, but once it did, it did not disappoint.  "Our cool and wet Spring and early Summer were replaced by a more typical Summertime pattern where we saw a warmer and drier month of July," said National Weather Service Meteorologist Tony Ansuini.

The average temperature in Buffalo was 73.9 degrees, which is 3.1 degrees above normal.

It was a dry month too. "Some area lawns are starting to brown-up," said Ansuini. "Officially at the airport, we received less than 2 inches of rain, that put up about an inch and a half below normal for the month."

Most days were sunny. There were only three days of measurable rain.

The lakes have warmed up nicely. Lake Erie is at 75 degrees. Lake Ontario is 77 degrees.
