Buffalo, NY (WBEN) As the Italian Festival kicks off Thursday, Buffalo Police are reminding of detours as work on the Skyway continues.

The Skyway outbound will be open from 11am-midnight toward the festival grounds, says Buffalo Police Capt. Jeff Rinaldo. Rinaldo notes there will be detours as you get near the site. "If you're on the 190 south, you'll notice a detour that take you to Oak or Louisiana and bring you directly to the event space using Michigan to Ohio. If you come from the southtowns, you can Route 5, exit at Tifft and the traffic will take you directly in," says Rinaldo.

Rinaldo says traffic officers will be on location to help guide festival goers. "Those traffic officers have come up with an efficient plan to bring traffic into Fuhrmann and the event space," says Rinaldo.

Rinaldo adds there's no need to park further away than you need to. Parking is free at the event grounds, and the entrance has been moved further back to accommodate 2,000 cars.
