"It Feels Like Vindication"

Michael Caputo named in the Mueller Report

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - "It feels like the end of a long 2 and a half year period".  Strategist and WBEN Contributor Michael Caputo reacts to seeing his name in the Mueller report.

"Every phone call I made was listened to, every email (and text) I sent was read without my knowledge. It feels like the end of a long drawn-out violation of my constitutional rights. It also feels a lot like vindication," said Caputo.

Page 61 of the Mueller report mentions Caputo as brokering a meeting in the Spring of 2016 between President Trump's campaign advisor Roger Stone and a Florida-based Russian named Henry Greenberg who claimed that he had information about Hillary Clinton. "But nowhere in the report did it mention that Greenberg was, at the time, on the payroll of the FBI and had been an FBI informant for 17 years.  Caputo said it's mischievous that it was omitted from the report.

Caputo said he was not part of that meeting and that Stone dismissed the Russian's offer.

That meeting is the reason that Caputo was questioned by both Robert Mueller and lawmakers in both the House and the Senate.

Caputo's takeaway from the Mueller report

While the Mueller report is dominating public discourse, Caputo is not surprised given the current political climate.  "Everyone is at each other's throats," he said. "But the bottom line is very clear.  There was no collusion. It did not happen. The reason this entire investigation was started was bogus. It was a hoax and now it's all over."

Caputo said it's time for the investigators to be investigated.  "We know from this two year period that the Obama White House was spying on the Republican candidate for President of the United States on behalf of Hillary Clinton.  Let that sink in", he said. "The Democratic President weaponized his Department of Justice to spy on the Republican candidate for President. That is the most egregious political scandal in the history of the American presidency. And we're about to find out more as the Department of Justice is turning its magnifying glasses on the people who started this whole thing."

Caputo is ready to move on, but in the meantime he says he'll be selling autographed copies of the Mueller report.
