Led by a shutout from goaltender Carter Hutton, the Buffalo Sabres bounced back from a Wednesday loss in Anaheim, with a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings Thursday night.

The win improves the Sabres to 6-1-1 on the season.

Hutton now has back to back shutouts as he grabbed the 13th of his career. The veteran goaltender set a franchise record for most saves in a shutout victory at 47 saves.

The Sabres didn't have to wait long to find success on the other end of the ice. Just 2:36 into the 1st period, center Casey Mittelstadt scored his first goal of the season to take a 1-0 lead.

Mittelstadt had just two points through the first seven games, and they were both in the season opener. The third-year center broke out in the points column against the Kings, finishing with three points.

Less than three minutes after his first goal, Mittelstadt set up winger Connor Sheary to give Buffalo a 2-0 lead.

Heading into the 2nd period with a 2-0 lead, a penalty from Kings forward Illya Kovalchuck just 45 seconds into the period gave Buffalo the man-advantage.

Mittelstadt took advantage, cutting to the net and redirecting a shot from defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen behind Kings goalie Johnathan Quick for the 3-0 lead.

The Sabres would keep the lead, killing three Kings powerplays before the second intermission.

Hutton and the Sabres were able to hold on to the win, stopping an offensive surge from LA in the 3rd period. The Kings opened up the period outshooting Buffalo 17-2.

The west-coast road trip continues for the Sabres this weekend, taking on the San Jose Sharks Saturday night. Puck drop is set for 10:30 PM ET.
