Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - What started as a request on Facebook to gather at LaSalle Park to commemorate office Craig Lehner, turned into a large event attended by hundreds of people.

Hundreds of people turned out and lined the sides of LaSalle Park.  After Lehner's cousin, Kaitlyn Elise, sang the national anthem, the attendees turned on blue lights, bathing the road through the park in a blue glow.

The event was organized by Scott Hemperly, who announced it on Facebook Wednesday.  In the event posting, Hemperly asked "Please bring any Blue Lights you may have or can get along with Blue Line Flags. Wear Blue Line clothing or Blue if you can please."

Hemperly served with Lehner in the past, and other members of the Jeep Wrangler Club of Western New York knew Lehner as well, according to Facebook posts.

Below are some posts related to the event, be sure to check out the pictures.
