Buffalo, NY (WBEN/AP) Apple unveiled three new iPhones on Wednesday, including its biggest and most expensive model yet, as the company seeks to widen the product’s appeal amid slowing sales.

CEO Tim Cook showed off the iPhone XS Max, which has a bigger screen than the one on last year’s dramatically designed model , the iPhone X. It’ll cost about $1,100, topping the iPhone X, which at $1,000 seemed jaw-dropping at the time. An updated iPhone X, now called the XS, stays at $1,000.

"It's another great advancement in iPhone technology with the water resistance, the faster chips, the iPhone screen," says Garret Cleversley of Mac Solutions Plus. "The XS Max is the edge to edge screen. The colors are vibrant, the size is pretty darn good, and getting closer to that iPad mini size, bringing it down to one device rather than two."

Cleversley says the new chip is twice as fast, and has a better camera. "Everyday use, the 10 and the XS and XS Max won't make much of a difference, but if you're a serious photographer, this will be an excellent upgrade," explains Cleversley. He adds the price may get folks into the iPhone upgrade program to get the iPhone 10 with accidental damage protection at $50 a month.

Cleversley is also thrilled with the new Apple Watch 4. "The ECG heart monitoring is awesome. My father and father-in-law are going through atrial fibruation, and the Apple Watch4 can detect those abnormal heart rhythms, alert that to them and it's like having a heart monitor to their wrist," says Cleversley. He says fall detection is also added, where the watch can detect a fall, and if there's no movement after a minute, 911 can be called.
