BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - City of Buffalo leaders and members of Ciminelli Real Estate broke ground on "The West End" in Buffalo's Waterfront Village near Canalside.

The land on Lakefront Boulevard was vacant for several years before Ciminelli Real Estate purchased the property in 2015. They're now planning to turn it into multiple connected buildings that are three stories tall and feature 20 condos.

Developer Paul Ciminelli said that the project will cost around $19 million to complete and that construction will likely finish sometime in 2022.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said the city will receive more than $300,000 in tax revenue each year from the property.
