Gronk Nation Donates 50K to WBEN KISS Cares for Kids Radiothon

"We Like to Give Back and Give Kids a Fighting Chance"

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Dan Gronkowski of the famous football family from Amherst, N.Y. dropped in on WBEN Thursday morning with a donation to the WBEN KISS Cares for Kids Radiothon.

Gronkowski lives in the area and was listening to the radio last week when he heard about the Radiothon for Oshei Children's Hospital. "I thought, man, we really wanted to make a donation with our Gronk Nation Youth Foundation, so I called Janet Snyder of Kiss 98.5 and asked if we could make something happen," said Gronkowski.

"We're happy to add $50,000 to the total already raised," he said.  That brings the total to over $258,000.

Many Western New Yorkers are familiar with the Gronkowski family.  Rob Gronkowski recently retired from the New England Patriots.  Dan and two other brothers, Chris and Glen, played for a time in the NFL and a 5th brother, Gordy Jr., played professional baseball.

Now that Rob Gronkowski is retired from the Patriots, and Gronk Nation Foundation is making a generous donation, is he looking to win back fans?   Brother Dan says football is a business.  "You can't hate him for being drafted by the Patriots, said Dan Gronkowski". "We've always wanted to start bringing some of this back to Buffalo. We just wanted to jump in and help out".

Gronkowski added, "Our foundation has been raising lots of money and we like to inspire kids through sports and health," he said.  We've donated a lot to hospitals in the New England area, but we want to bring it home and give it to the hospitals we grew up with".
