Lockport, NY (WBEN) GM's Lockport Operations has secured new business to supply several powertrain thermal components for an important future General Motors high volume vehicle. The additional work strengthens Lockport’s portfolio of precision components that includes radiators, condensers, heater cores and oil coolers.

“This is another positive step for the plant, and comes as a result of joint teamwork with UAW Local 686 leadership that will help support our business as well as our community,” said Ken Johnson, GM Lockport Operations director. Mike Branch, UAW Local 686 Chairman adds, “This is a nice win for our employees as well as Lockport and Western New York.”

Specific timing and product details of the new business will be announced at a future date.

“This is a win-win-win that will benefit GM, the world-class UAW workers at Lockport, and the Western New York economy. This is exactly why I fought so hard to keep open this plant and have GM acquire the plant from Delphi during the Great Recession and auto bailout. We look forward to a bright future of more work at the productive and efficient Lockport GM plant,” said Senator Chuck Schumer.
