Buffalo, NY (WBEN) After losing its original location to a fire, Gigi's re-opened at the new Northland Workplace Training Center. The new owner says after two weeks, he couldn't keep up with the demand.

Mayor Byron Brown says he was saddened by the news. "The restaurant experienced incredible demand, incredible patronage that exceeded all expectations, and at this time is closed," says Mayor Byron Brown.

He says a new request for proposals process will take place to get another operator. "The materials bought by the state will be used by the new operator," and Brown adds will be in move-in condition.

Brown says the level of support and volume of customers is something anyone interested in taking over should consider. "The level of support for the name Gigi's is just off the chart so anyone looking to respond to the request for proposal needs to be prepared for volume they've never seen before," warns Brown.

As far as the Gigi's name and recipe, Brown suspects interested parties may want to buy the Gigi's name and recipe.
