BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Frontier Airlines announced on Tuesday that they will launch service domestically to five cities from the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The five cities are Denver, Fort Myers, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa.

Service to Denver will begin in Spring 2018 while service to the Florida cities are expected to begin in early-December. Service to Tampa begins on December 6 while Fort Myers, Miami, and Orlando flights from the Buffalo airport begin on December 10.

"This will be the first time that direct service to both Fort Myers and Miami will be available to the millions of passengers who fly out of this airport each and every year," Kimberly Minkel, Executive Director of NFTA, said. "We are also thrilled with the daily service to Orlando. Competition and options provide more utility for our many customers."

Discussions between NFTA and Frontier Airlines officials began about two weeks ago, and talks became more serious about six weeks ago according Robert Westgate, who is Frontier Airlines' Senior Director of Schedule Planning.

"We're opening up a number of new routes throughout our network," Westgate said. "We have 21 new cities that we're announcing today and 85 new routes."

Between now and December, NFTA officials will need to determine which gates make sense for the aircrafts, choosing the correct ticket-counter space for Frontier, and enter into contracts with ground-service providers.

"Those are the types of things that we go through with every new entry carrier," NFTA's Aviation Director William Vanecek said. "It will be very seamless. We've got plenty of (time) to get those in place and we'll make sure they succeed right out the gate."

Frontier Airlines is offering a promotion giving Buffalo passengers a chance to win four round-trip flights. Find out more by clicking HERE.

Launch fares start as low as $34.
