Four injured in Amherst crash

Amherst, NY (WBEN) A Monday afternoon crash sent four people to the hospital, one with serious injuries.

Police say around 1:30 PM, a truck and a car collided in the 2800 block of Niagara Falls Blvd. A 1998 GMC Truck, driven by a 58 year old male from Buffalo was southbound on Niagara Falls Blvd. and collided with a 2013 Chevrolet driven by a 24 year old female from North Tonawanda. The driver of the GMC was transported to the Erie County Medical center with a minor injury. A passenger from the GMC was transported by Twin City Ambulance to Erie County Medical Center with serious head and back injuries. The occupants from the Chevrolet were evaluated at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

The Ellicott Creek and Getzville Fire Departments assisted at the accident scene. The accident is currently under investigation. Investigators will be canvassing for video and witnesses and are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash-camera footage of the area or incident, to contact the Amherst Police Department at 689-1311.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The crash forced the closure of the Boulevard from East Robinson to North Ellicott Creek for a couple of hours.
