Fatal crash in Town of Brant

Victim identified, 4 others injured

Brant, NY (WBEN) – The Erie County Sheriff's Office has identified the driver killed in Sunday's crash in the town of Brant.  67 year old Kathleen Lewis of Volant, Pennsylvania was pronounced dead at the scene on Rt 20, Southwestern Boulevard, between Rt 249 and Hammond Rd.  Her granddaughters were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Investigators are piecing together the details following the fatal crash.

At approximately 1:30pm Sunday, sheriff’s dispatchers received calls about a two-vehicle crash.  The operator of one of the vehicles was pronounced deceased on the scene, and the two minor passengers were taken to John R. Oishei Children's Hospital and were last reported alert and conscious.

The driver and passenger of the other vehicle, from Kentucky, were taken to Erie County Medical Center, and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office sent its therapy dog, Loki, to the hospital to comfort the children.
