Niagara Falls, NY (WBEN) The Niagara Falls Water Board says it is close to finally fixing the water main that broke at 47th and Niagara Falls Boulevard in December.

Based on Department of Health requirements, the NFWB says its water quality lab has completed necessary testing to ensure safe drinking water standards are met.

Upon further analysis of the massive water main break repair, NFWB also identified an area in which air releases were impacting performance and required replacement. Those air releases, which are a mechanism that allow air to flow out of the system, are located on Pine Avenue and Hyde Park.

The NFWB says it is proactively working to fully repair the air releases and anticipates this will be completed by Thursday. At that time, the area is expected to return to full pressure.
