BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – Erie County will have new snow equipment to battle ahead of the winter season.

The county said five new plow trucks will be added to the public works fleet and will begin service during the second week of December.

But the public works department isn’t the only one that gets some new toys at their disposal. Erie County’s Emergency Services Department will also have new snowmobiles for use.

“If people do happen to be stranded in areas, we can send out teams out working in conjunction with the sheriff’s teams and others,” Emergency Services Commissioner Dan Neaverth, Jr. said. “Maybe there’s an incident on one of the snowmobile trails where we need to get some extra resources back to them. We work in conjunction with a lot of other agencies.”

Neaverth talked about how communication is key amongst all the different stakeholders in Erie County when battling the snow. Hear the conversation he had with WBEN’s Mike Baggerman
