BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - As the Taste of Buffalo prepares for this weekend, many festival-goers will embrace the idea of binge-eating local favorites like chicken wings, beef on weck, etc.

However, nearly 60 restaurants and food trucks at the Taste of Buffalo are embracing healthy options.

"11 years ago the Taste of Buffalo was the first food festival in the United States to require all participating restaurants to serve a healthy option that is lower in fat, cholesterol, and sodium," Carrie Meyer, Executive Director of Independent Health Foundation, said.

Meyer said the City of Buffalo is adopting healthy eating habits partially as a result of the Taste of Buffalo.

The healthy menu options served by each restaurant can be found by visiting https://www.healthyoptionsbuffalo.com/tasteofbuffalo
