WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WBEN) - Erie 1 BOCES in West Seneca is the site of an electronics recycling drive on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The public is asked to bring electronic items such as computers, televisions, old microwaves, or other items which feature some sort of circuit board so they can be recycled or refurbished.

Individuals should not bring large appliances such as refrigerators or stoves to the recycling drive.

"It's illegal to throw your televisions or computers, things of that nature, into the garbage," Senator Patrick Gallivan said. "There's a limited opportunity. Some towns do have recycling programs where people can get rid of the electronic waste. In many cases, those services are not available to people."

Gallivan said it's illegal to simply throw away some electronics and added that the recycling drive reduces space at landfills.
