BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - After years of anticipation, a movie theater is returning to Main Street in the City of Buffalo on Thursday.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and The Benchmark Group announced on Tuesday that the Market Arcade will be the site of an AMC Movie Theater. The Benchmark Group invested more than $9 million to bring a 650-seat, eight-screen theater to Buffalo's Theatre District.

Ryan Noonan with AMC says they will have power heated recliners,m online ticketing, reserved seating, and ticketless entry. As well as a menu that includes chicken and waffle sandwiches, flat bread pizzas, pretzel bites and gluten free snacks.

"We're so excited to have this theater open," Noonand said. "We are ready for people in Downtown Buffalo to enjoy the AMC experience.

Mayor Brown says this investment joins the nearly $6.5 Billion the city has experienced since 2012.

"That investment is going to continue to move forward," Mayor Brown said. "With this project opening it will continue to promote this investment into our city."

Entry to the theater will now be on the Main Street site only. The past theater there also allowed entry via Washington Street. New event parking during movie times is at the Augspurger Parking Ramp on the corner of Pearl and West Chippewa.

The theater is currently in progress of abtaining their liquor license.
