BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - The 1.5 mile stretch of land between Downtown Buffalo and the Buffalo River, formerly known as the DL&W Corridor, has been rebranded as “The Riverline”.

The Western New York Land Conservancy announces the name change on Tuesday. The WNY Land Conservancy is rebranding the DL&W Corridor as “The Riverline” which will be broken up into three parts known as “The Del”, “The Junctures”, and “The Basswood."

It’s being promoted as a way to connect downtown with the Buffalo River.

More than $300,000 has already been donated to support funding of the greenway trail, though the group behind the project said another $120,000 is needed to move ahead with their plans to transform the corridor.

The conservancy did not announce any specific plans on what the corridor will feature. That process could take up to a year.
