BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Jeremy Zellner is the Erie County Demoratic Committe chair. He says a primary that was voted on Tueday in Syracuse showed that voters will back the local pick rather than someone picked by Washington. Zellner says they almost had to go through the same situation here in the 27th congressional district.

"There was many Washington elites trying to push Nate McMurray out," Zellner said. "No one is going to push Nate around."

Zellner says many national consultants try to decide what they think is best for the party and district.

"That's we we're here to do, we know what's best for our communities, not someone in Washington," Zellner said.

Zellner says with the republicans controlling the federal government many democrats are focused to gain the power back this November.

"That's what is firing people up in the democratic party in the elections," Zellner said.

Zellner says that there may sometimes be a struggle for the party to come together, but once a canidate is decided in the primary they must come together if they loook to take back the power the Republicans have in government.
