Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo's running community and business community come together Thursday evening for the 38th annual J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge in Delaware Park.

A record crowd will be inattendance.  More than 14,100 runners from 391 Western New York companies have entered.  This marks a 13% increase from last year and breaks the previous record of 13,963 set in 2000.

"The event is a celebration of corporate teamwork and comaraderie.  It's only held in only 13 cities in the world and Buffalo is fortunate to be part of it," said Race Director Melina Buck.

The race starts at 6:45pm on Amherst Street between Colvin and Nottingham.  It goes down Delaware Avenue to Gates Circle, then back up Delaware and finishing in Delaware Park on Ring Road.

If you are participating in the race, organizers urge you to use free shuttle transportation from Buffalo State College. Lots G20 - G22 at Buffalo State open at 4pm.  Shuttle service runs from 4:30pm - 6pm and after the race from 8pm-10pm.

Buffalo Police ask drivers to avoid Parkside and use alternate routes, as heavy traffic is expected around the park.

Road Closures

Roads in the area will start closing around 5:30pm.

These roads will be closed until 7:30pm:

Amherst Street between Parkside Avenue & Edge Park.

Colvin Avenue between Amherst & Linden Streets.
