City Preparing for Taste of Buffalo

Largest two-day food festival in country begins July 13

June 14, 2019 - 5:49 pm

BUFFALO (WBEN - Brendan Keany) - Buffalo is a mere month away from hosting one of Western New York's largest and most popular attractions every year.

More than 400,000 people visit the city for the largest two-day food festival in the country, and this year there are a total of 56 restaurants and food trucks planning to provide samples of their food.

Matt Testa is the 2019 Taste chair, and he detailed some of new features and highlights coming to the festival this year.

"The Taste is Western New York's favorite food weekend, and we've made some changes to improve the festival experience for our guests," said Testa. "All food and beverage tickets are now valued at $1, which simplifies the transaction. If an item is priced at one ticket, that means it costs one dollar. In addition, new uniform menu signage at all restaurants will be easy to see so you have plenty of time to decide what you want to eat."

As for some of the other attractions, the winner of MasterChef Season 7, Shaun O'Neale, will be preparing his Sweet Corn and Goat Cheese Risotto at noon on Saturday, and he'll be back Sunday at noon to make Chili Rubbed Pork Tenderloin. During this time, O'Neale will interact with the audience and take questions.

Other celebrity appearances:

  • King's Hawaiian Chef Bert - 3:45 pm on Saturday and Sunday
  • Buffalo's Own Singing Cops - 5 pm on Saturday
  • Lockhouse Distillery's 6th Annual Summer Cocktail Competition - 2:30 pm on Saturday

The Taste of Buffalo begins on July 13 from 11 am to 9 pm, and then wraps up on Sunday, July 14, from 11 am to 7 pm. For more information about the nationally renowned festival, you can head to
