BUFFALO (WBEN) - The City of Buffalo received 8-10 inches of snow over the course of Monday night and into the Tuesday overnight hours, according to Public Works Commissioner Mike Finn.

"Crews have been consistently fighting that snow since yesterday afternoon, and they were able to get the mains and secondary roadways plowed and in good shape for the morning commute," said Finn. "At 8:30 this morning, we transitioned the bulk of our efforts into sidestreets. Crews will continue working with those throughout the day and into tomorrow."

Finn noted that this week's below normal temperatures will make it harder for crews to remove snow because they won't be assisted by a natural warmup until later this weekend. For that reason, he urged residents to continue obeying street parking signs, as it will help the plows.

"One important reminder for city residents is to follow alternate parking regulations," he said. "It's critical to our operations that residents move their cars as prescribed so we can access sidestreets and get them clean."
