Cheektowaga, NY (WBEN) As Chick-Fil-A prepares to open its first location in Cheektowaga, police are getting ready to make sure traffic runs smoothly.

"We'll have officers directing traffic on Walden Avenue, Anderson, Duke all the way down to Peppy," says Capt. Scott Pilat. "We'll have traffic cones down the middle of the road, so there will be through traffic on both sides, and hopefully that will keep us organized as much as possible," Pilat says a couple of overflow lots will also be available.

Pilat explains how Chick-Fil-A diners will be directed to the new restaurant. "They turn into Peppy, where the inflatable cow will be. They'll turn down Peppy to Dale, driving the center of Dale, where officers will direct them in between cones, and then turn onto Walden," says Pilat.

He doesn't have an estimate on how many will come down Thursday, but past history has put lines a mile long.

Franchisee Cassandra Sheedy says there will be additional parking if her lot is full. "We have rented out a third of the Hampton Inn for Chick-Fil-A guests, so we have adjacent parking at the hotel," says Sheedy.

This will be WNY's first Chick-Fil-A with another scheduled soon in Cheektowaga.
