Cheektowaga Man Charged with Vehicular Manslaughter

Accused of striking a woman with his car while driving drunk

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A Cheektowaga man has been indicted on a vehicular manslaughter charge in connection with a collision that killed a woman.

27-year-old Blair Bell of Cheektowaga was arraigned before Cheektowaga Town Court Justice Paul S. Piotrowski on one count of Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a Class “D” felony, and two counts of Driving While Intoxicated, misdemeanor charges. 

Prosecutors say Bell was driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol when he struck 46-year-old Tonya Gravely on Pine Ridge Road on May 4th. Bell is accused of hitting the victim and her car door as she was removing items from her own vehicle. The victim was taken to ECMC where she was pronounced dead.

Bell is scheduled to return to court for a felony hearing on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 9 a.m. He was released on his own recognizance.

He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.
