CCS Oncology: We Are Open for Patients

Reports of closure "an editorialization" of court filings

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Despite a report that CCS Oncology is going out of business, the cancer care provider tells WBEN that they remain open for patients.

"It's an editorialization of what was filed in court, and is not factually accurate," said Brendan Chiarilli of CCS Oncology on reports of the closing. "All of our offices are open and rendering care to our patients, and will continue to render care to our patients."

A WGRZ-TV report said that the cancer treatment center's assets have been awarded to Bank of America after repeatedly missing payments. The court action was before Federal Judge Elizabeth Wolford.

In late 2017, the IRS had filed a $1 Million tax lien against CCS Oncology.

"If there's a tax lien that's been filed, and you've exhausted all of your rights to be able to negotiate a settlement with the IRS, then they have the right to come in and take everything," said Esther Gulyas of EG Tax.

Gulyas says up until this point CCS would have had a lot of opportunities to settle the debt and it would seem that they just didn't have the assets or money to satisfy the tax debt.

CCS Oncology has multiple locations in Western New York.
