Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Fired FBI director James Comey spoke with ABC last night to discuss his working with President Trump. This as his book is coming out. One Republican strategist believes the claims Comey makes are outrageous.

"He has fallen in the eyes of lots of Americans ever since he went on television to essentially give Hillary Clinton a free pass. I think now that he's hawking a book and understands the more controversial and outrageous you can be the more books you can sell, he's doing just that," says Carl Calabrese. He says Comey's questioning of Trump's relationship with wife Melania and comparing a request for loyalty to the mafia was terrible.

GOP Strategist Carl Calabrese on Comey Interview

Calabrese says the worst part of the Comey interview was the reference to the infamous Russian dossier on Trump. "He brings up this charge of prostitutes in Moscow which has no evidence at all, and for him to say, 'I don't know if I beleive him,' that's the oldest trick in the book," says Calabrese.

Calabrese says it's not surprising Trump took to Twitter. "I wish he could be more presidential, but on the other hand, I just learned to live with the fact he's not. When he gets hit, he hits back and twice as hard," says Calabrese. Calabrese says he does agree with Trump calling Comey untruthful, but not so sure he'd use the word slimeball.

Calabrese believes this will be the controversy of the day, and will not affect Trump long term.
