Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Buffalo Public Schools and First Student say they are addressing the issue of students coming home from school late. They say there is a shortage of bus drivers, an issue that is nationwide.
Dr. Darren Brown with Buffalo Public Schools says there are 650 routes daily. "We have 640 of our routes covered in the morning, in the afternoon we have 625 routes covered. We carry public, charter, Catholic, and non-public school students every day," explains Brown. "We've partnered with First Student to ramp up the recruitment efforts. We've reached out to parents, community leaders to ramp up the recruitment because that is the utlimate issue."
