Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - There was a police presence as students arrived at Southside Elementary on Southside Parkway in South Buffalo Wednesday morning.

It was a follow-up from an incident at the school December 19th.  A letter was sent home to parents before the Christmas break indicating that a fight had occurred at the school.  Around the same time, a picture of a gun was posted on Snapchat.

Wednesday was the first day back for students and teachers.

WBEN was at the school as it opened Wednesday.  Reporter Mike Baggerman was told it was quickly taken care of and that everything was business as usual.

Buffalo Police later issued this statement:

Buffalo Police have investigated a social media post in connection with Southside Elementary School.
Police say they became aware of the post between December 19-20th.
Buffalo police school resource officers questioned a 14 year old male student in connection with the post.
Police say the student, who does not attend Southside Elementary,  was in possession of a BB gun which police have now confiscated.
At this time, police say it appears no direct threat was made.

This is a copy of a letter that was sent home to parents on Wednesday, January 2nd.
