Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Buffalo Police Department Friday investigated a "suspicious package" found outside the south district police station on South park Avenue overnight.

The Erie County Bomb Squad was called in to investigate and examine the finding.

The device was determined to be 'non-functional' by authorities.

Buffalo Police Captain Jeffrey Rinaldo briefed reporters Friday afternoon.

Rinaldo says someone placed two devices outside the front door, and a member of the janitorial staff noticed the devices later Friday morning. "It was two loose devices that looked like pipe bombs," says Rinaldo. "The devices were designed to look like a bomb, but the Erie County bomb squad took it to their site and determined it to be non-functional."
