Buffalo Man Indicted in 2017 Homicide

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A Buffalo man has been arrested and charged with murder and weapons possession.

25-year-old Roberto Leon is accused of fatally shooting 25-year-old Luis Rivera of Buffalo on Center Lane in Buffalo’s Riverside neighborhood in November of 2017.

If convicted on all charges, Leon faces up to 25 years to life in prison.

Leon is being held without bail.

On Friday, Buffalo Police Officer Hector Coco was sent out on a routine call for service in the Shaffer Village. While on the scene Officer Coco identified the suspect as Leon. Captain Jeff Rinaldo says Officer Coco immediately took action.

"Officer Coco contacted our homicide unit and with the assistance of homicide as well as the United States Marshall Service, Officer Coco was able to arrest Mr. Leon by the Shaffer Village."
