AMHERST, N.Y. (WBEN) - Amherst Police announced the arrest of a man and charged him with several crimes.

Antonio Egleton, 31, was found to be in possession of a loaded pistol, marijuana, and counterfeit money. He was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, and Possession of a Forged Instrument in the First Degree.

Amherst Police recently received several complaints about gunfire in the Eggersville neighborhood. A responding officer observed an occupied running vehicle in the lot of a Main Street motel. The vehicle was reportedly stolen in the City of Buffalo.

Police told the occupants at gunpoint, which included two women, to put their hands on the trunk. The two women complied but Egleton allegedly did not until additional officers arrived.

Egleton also has warrants in agencies inside and outside New York State. He was arraigned in Amherst Town Court and remanded to Erie County Holding Center without bail.
