Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Buffalo Police say they are trying to determine the identities of those found inside a burned out vehicle on Tonawanda Street. They are also trying to determine if there's a link to a three year old boy who was found sleeping on a porch Monday morning.

"We have been in contact with the grandparents of the missing child. They've traveled from Florida and worked with our detectives to start putting together the circumstances as to how this came to be and how this child was found," says Buffalo Police Capt. Jeff Rinaldo.

Meantime, officers found human remains in a badly damaged car as a result of the fire on Tonawanda Street. The discovery was made Monday evening, but Rinaldo believes the fire itself began early Monday morning. "It burned extremely long, extremely hot and extinguished itself which left little remnants of the vehicle. We believe the fire would have started around 3am," adds Rinaldo.

Rinaldo acknowledges the possible link between the fire and the three year old boy. "As of right now, this is a missing persons investigation regarding the mother, the father and a friend of the parents" of the child. "We believe these people may have arrived in Buffalo sometime Sunday night and were here in the Buffalo area. We will not know the identities for quite some time. We will require the services of a forensic anthropologist to piece together what happened," says Rinaldo.

The three have been identified as 24 year old Nicole Merced Plaud.

31 year old Miguel Anthony Valentin-Colon

29 year old Dhamyl Mirella Roman-Audiffred

Rinaldo says the child is in custody of Child Protective Services and is in good spirits.
