Winter Advisory Says Beware of Poor Visibility, Bad Roads

 There will be some rough driving on area roads today with blowing snow, slick spots and bad visibility.

Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming Counties: Winter Weather Advisory with blowing snow and poor visibility until 7 pm Tuesday night
Chautauqua & Cattaraugus Counties: Lake Effect snows ocurring, poor visibilities and bad driving until 7 pm

"The cold temperatures are going to remain with us for the week," says Meteorologist Dave Thomas at the National Weather Service. "... We are going to have strong winds gusting up to 45 MPH today. that's going to blow and drift all the snow that we have had for the past couple of days."

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will cause areas of significant blowing and drifting snow. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Periods of blowing snow will result in snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Slow down and use caution while driving. Submit snow reports through our website or social media.

* WHAT...Lake effect snow occurring. Plan on slippery road conditions. In addition, areas of poor visibility are expected. Additional snow accumulations of an inch or less are expected in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow today.

* WHERE...Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM today

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.
