Black Friday SKIING!

Ski season up and running in Western New York

November 24, 2017 - 7:43 am

Ellicottville, N.Y. (WBEN) - Along with the Black Friday shopping deals comes the start of the 2017-18 ski season in Western New York.  Thanks to cold nights and a little natural snow from Mother Nature, Holiday Valley in Ellicottville has been able to accumulate enough snow to open up a limited number of slopes for those hearty folks more into skiing than shopping.

Holiday Valley is running two lifts and five trails beginning at 9am Friday and through the holiday weekend.

The ski resort has expanded its snowmaking operations and has been in 'snowmaking mode' since the nights have turned cold enough for the process.

Other area ski areas have not yet opened for the season.
