As anticipated since the end of training camp, the Bills finally got their top draft choice back on the field for practice Wednesday.

Linebacker Shaq Lawson, who was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list following off-season shoulder surgery, was ineligible to participate in practice until the first day after week six. The team now has a three week window to activate him to the 53-man roster. Head coach Rex Ryan said “we’ll see” how it goes with him this week before deciding if the Clemson product will play Sunday at Miami.

“As we know he hasn’t been to one practice yet, so we’re going to see how it is,” Ryan told the media before practice.  “We’re going to err on the side of caution.  But if he’s ready to roll, and we feel great about it, he feels great about it, the doctors feel great a about it, then you know, let’s let it rip.”

There's no rush for the team to put the 2015 consensus All-American on the field if he's not completely ready. Lorenzo Alexander, Who has been starting in that position, currently leads the NFL in sacks with eight. The defense overall has only allowed more than 19 points in one game this season.

But if and when Lawson is ready to go, he will bolster and already very good front-seven that has also been without defensive tackle Marcell Dareus all year.  Dareus was limited in practice Wednesday and Ryan said he's “hopeful” to get him back for Sunday's game.

The Bills will be challenged by a Dolphins running game that chewed up 222 yards last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rookie back Jay Ajayi ran for 204 yards and was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
