LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a 10-year-old boy missing in the waters off Long Beach.

The child was last seen with his 11-year-old brother near Ocean Beach Park just after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say the two Long Island kids got caught in a riptide. The older brother managed to make it to shore. There were no lifeguards on duty at the time.

Search efforts were called off on Wednesday.

Authorities will continue to scan the shoreline.
