Amherst doctor gets two years probation for stealing drugs

Dr. Paul Biddle stole controlled substances using names of dead patients

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - An Amherst pain doctor was sentenced to two years of probation by a federal judge after he used the names of dead patients to steal drugs. .

Dr. Paul Biddle, 54, stole the drugs between February 9, 2015 and October 16, 2017. He knowingly prescribed hydromorphone to two dead patients using their names and birth dates so that he can receive the drugs for himself. Biddle wrote ten prescriptions to himself after the death of one of his patients and wrote 23 prescriptions using the other person's name. All of the prescriptions were filled by pharmacies to Tampa, Florida and shipped to Biddle's home or office.

Biddle was an anesthesiologist and pain management doctor who also ran a medical marijuana practice.
