AMHERST, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Amherst Town Board approved the plan to start the process of development on Niagara Falls Boulevard.

Town Supervisor Brian Kulpa says they are adopting a project charter to start the process.

"The project charter is essentially a gameplan to do a study between the town of tonawanda and the town of amherst and all of our other principal municipal partners," Kulpa said.

This plan comes after a fatal accident happened on the boulevard Saturday. Kulpa says this plan has already been in the works for months.

"We've been working on this since January," Kulpa said."It's a coincidence that it happens to be on the agenda tonight and the unfortunateness of what happened Saturday."

The town estimates the cost of project will be between 400 and 500 thousand dollars. The planning of the project is set to run through July 2019.
