Amazon Goes Out For Groceries; Buying Whole Foods Inc.

Online Giant's Biggest Foray into Brick-and-Mortar Stores

Online juggernaut Amazon is buying Whole Foods in a deal valued at about $13.7 billion, including debt.

Amazon.com Inc. will pay $42 per share of Whole Foods Market Inc.

The deal is targeted to close in the second half of the year.

Amazon has a deal to purchase the formerAhold Inc.warehouse facility on Pavement Road and Walden Avenue in Lancaster, to create a sorting center for their online business.

Whole Foods has it's first Western New York Store under construction off Sheridan Drive in Amherst in the Northtown Plaza.  It is expected to open in 2018.
