BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Grover Cleveland High School briefly went into lockdown mode on Monday after reports of a gun near the campus.

A verbal threat was made by a student at 2:37 p.m. that a gun was left outside of school grounds. Police did not find a gun after a search involving K-9 units.

"The students and staff are to be commended for following District procedures in an orderly and efficient manner, assuring their safety at all times," Buffalo Public Schools Spokesperson Elena Cala said in a statement. "As always, school administrators and law enforcement worked together to maintain our priority of student safety."

The school was given the "all clear" at 3:15 p.m.

The name of the student was not released. The district said it will follow protocol in regards to that student's future. Buffalo Police said they arrested a 16-year-old boy and charges are pending against him.
